A high-mountain journey - hidden valleys, panoramic ridges and a 5,732 m summit ascent.

The perfect introduction to the Himalayas, blending culture with breathtaking mountain scenery. Beyond Kathmandu, the route to Langtang Valley unfolds through terraced foothills, forested trails and timeless Tibetan-influenced villages, where mountain culture and hospitality remain deeply rooted.

Carefully paced acclimatisation hikes to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri provide inspiring Himalayan panoramas while building confidence at altitude. The highlight of the journey is Yala Peak (5732m)—an ideal first Himalayan summit for those ready to step beyond trekking. With gentle snow slopes and well-supported routes, climbers can relish the experience of standing above 5000 meters, surrounded by sweeping vistas of Ganchenpo, Shishapangma, and other towering peaks.

This is not a rushed itinerary or a box-ticking summit. It’s a measured, confidence-building introduction to high-altitude climbing—for those who want to do it properly.

Curious About This Trip?

Is Yala Peak suitable for a first Himalayan summit?

Yes. At 5,732m, Yala Peak is regarded as one of the best first Himalayan summits for experienced trekkers. The route involves glacier travel, snow slopes, crampons, ice axe use, and fixed ropes—providing genuine mountaineering experience without extreme technical difficulty.

Do I need prior mountaineering experience?

While prior climbing experience is not required, participants should be fit, comfortable trekking at altitude, and confident on steep terrain. Your guide will give you a comprehensive on-expedition training at Yala Peak Base Camp, including rope travel and snow technique.

How does acclimatisation work on this expedition?

The itinerary is deliberately designed with progressive acclimatisation:

  • Multiple nights above 3,000m

  • Acclimatisation hikes to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) and Tserko Ri (4,984m)

  • A dedicated contingency / reserve day. This structure significantly improves summit success and safety.

How fit do I need to be?

You should be comfortable with:

  • 6–8 hour trekking days
  • Sustained ascents at altitude
  • A long summit day (~10 hours total)

This expedition is designed for trekkers ready to progress into mountaineering.

What makes this itinerary different from standard Langtang treks?

Compared to standard treks, this expedition:
  • Includes two major acclimatisation summits

  • Uses tented high camps

  • Culminates in a glacier-based Himalayan summit
It’s serves as a stepping stone to bigger 6,000m+ objectives.

When is the best time to do this expedition?

We recommend:

  • Late March to May: Stable weather, blooming flora and clear mountain views
  • October to November: Crisp air, excellent visibility and dry conditions

Can the itinerary be customised?

Absolutely. This journey is fully customisable. We can:

Your trek should match your fitness, goals, and travel style — not the other way around.
